I felt slow and sluggish. This week has been difficult for me.
My proposed explanation: In August 2008, after seeing a picture of myself at a sister’s wedding and after being sick and tired of not having energy, I started BODY FOR LIFE. The program was great. In 12 weeks I lost 30lbs of total body weight, but the biggest difference was my energy level. I felt I could do just about anything.
After the holidays, it was my intention to start the program again, but decided that it was interfere with training for my future triathlons. In retrospect, I have gradually become more and more energy deficient since the first of the year, and I believe that it is due in part to my diet and lack of weight training.
I am therefore setting a new workout plan in motion. I will weight train in the mornings (4:30 am on work days) on Mon-Wed-Fri and complete 20 mins of aerobic exercise on Tue-Thur-Sat (5:00 am on work days). At night after work and on days off, I will do triathlon-specific training (swim, run, cycle) following a prescribed workout plan. I am also going to restart the diet set out in the program (eating 6 meals/day, 6 carbs, 6 proteins, 2+ veggies, one free day/week).
For those interested in the body for life program, it is written by Bill Phillips of EAS, the website is: www.bodyforlife.com. Great advice is given about workouts, diet, and life in general.
